This past Saturday we took a family trip down to Syracuse to check out the Rosamond Gifford Zoo. It was a pretty good sized zoo with plenty of well kept habitats and a nice animals on display. Sabrina was extremely excited and in good spirits the whole visit.
| Geting ready to enter the zoo. |
Our first stop was the free flight avery. This peacock greeted us with a beautiful display of colors.
We continued with the indoor exhibits and visited with bats, mole rats, sloths, lions, meerkats, primates and others.
The lions were being lazy... as most cats are during the day
I really thought the Golden Lion Tamarin was adorable!
The Ruffed Lemurs were also napping...all cozy with each other.
We then made our way to the outdoor exhibits. Here Brian is pointing out the Flamingos to Sabrina
We just caught the tail end of the "In the wings bird show". The owl was my favorite.
But he also realized it was nap time and began to fall asleep as I photographed him.
Luckily we caught the Humboldt Penguin show just as it began...Sabrina loved it.
Sabrina also enjoyed being a penguin...she ran up and put her face in herself
Of course Brain couldn't help being silly with her
The big horn sheep really put a show on for us.
He was pretty amazing just standing there
Next we made our way into the tiger territory...
This one was real close to the wall
Sabrina was a bit standoff-ish at first
But as soon as she saw this one a bit more distant from the glass we couldn't get her away from it
Finally we made our way to the Elephants
Sabrina enjoyed watching them with Brian
The little guy was cute
Sabrina found a static display and gave her friend the elephant a big hug.
And last but not least we found the bears
Sleeping
Sabrina & I found a flower garden planted by the mens club of Syracuse and stopped for a picture
And our very last stop was for ice cream. We got Sabrina dipping dots thinking they would be easier to eat but we learned differently...
They are quite messy...but fun!
