Niagara Falls July 2013

On a whim we decided to go see Niagara Falls one weekend.  We decided on a Friday, left on Saturday and came home on Sunday.  Since we were only going for one night we decided to do it right and stay in Canada.   We picked a hotel with a view of the American Falls, got a room on the highest floor, and reaped the rewards of the spectacular views.

The girls were perfect on the 4 hour drive.  When we got the the Falls on the American side they had closed the parking due to to many people and were redirecting us to who knows where, when we inquired why they said we could find parking a mile or so away and I told them we had a 3 month old and they made an exception and let us in...Score!.  We still had to park in the back lot and walk maybe a 1/2 mile to the falls, it was hot and humid but truly a site to be seen and worth it.

After visiting the state park we made our way to the hotel.  It was so nice to have great views of the falls in an air conditioned room!

After cooling off and relaxing for a bit in the room we made our way through the "Carnival meets Vegas" type of attractions they have on the streets of Canada.  Seriously the streets were packed with thousands of people which made me happy to be there only for one night! We found our way to a recommended wood fired pizza spot and enjoyed dinner.

The perfect day...minus the humid heat and crowds, was topped off with views of the American falls illuminated at night and a surprise fireworks show!
Spontaneous getaways with the family are wonderful!!!!
