Adirondack Adventures

Welcome to our Adirondack Adventures...
We spent a beautiful 3 nights and 4 days at the Whiteface Lodge in Lake Placid.  The weather was in the 60's in the days and dipped into the 40's at night.  We had a few mountain showers but we're able to enjoy some sunshine as well.

Sabrina enjoyed the critters that were on display.  Here she's making friends with a raccoon.

She was really happy to get into the suite and be out of the car!

The views from the balcony were lush & tranquil.

Our living room

which had a nice cozy fireplace

The kitchen was nice too...although we only really used it for breakfast

The Suites

Sabrina liked watching the fountain

Our first night there we checked out the indoor/outdoor heated pool & jacuzzi

Our second day we decided to head to the NY/VT border and visit Ft Ticonderoga.  The drive through the mountains was peaceful and full of great views.

We came across the Cascade Lakes & Falls so decided to stop and take a few photos.

Before heading to the fort we stopped in town for lunch and found this cute lucheonette

Sabrina was in a silly mood

Until she got some ice cream

 Which she throughly enjoyed

I just had to take a photo of this old thermometer hanging outside the luncheonette...

Here's a clock in town

A statue in the middle of town

Finally we made it to the fort

Back at the lodge the sun finally came out... this is a view from our balcony of the pool area

Brian & I enjoyed a relaxing moment on the balcony while Sabrina took a nap

That evening we drove into the town of Lake Placid & had sushi.  This is Sabrina's first time using chop sticks, they were the trainers but she was able to pick up her edamame with out any trouble!

Back at the lodge we enjoyed walking around the property

Then we stumbled upon the nightly smore's.

Sabrina liked eating them.

We then found a grand piano and let Sabrina play

There is a nice pond behind the pool area so we stopped for a bit to watch people feed the fish

Sabrina telling us to be quiet so we don't disturb the fish

That night we opted to play in the bubble bath instead of the pool.  Sabrina loved it!

The next day after a relaxing morning in the spa for me we headed to High Fall Gorge.
This is a view looking down the falls.

Here's the view looking up the falls

We found a fun tree so thought we would hang out in it for a bit

Sabrina & I sitting on a rock over 1.5 billion years old

We then took a moment to relax by the river.

Sabrina liked giving the bear in the visitors center a high five

And a hug when it was time to leave

That evening we played in the lodges game room.  We started with bowling but it was an old 2 lane alley and Sabrina didn't like how loud it was.
She then found her favorite game, air hockey, and had a good time

Playing air hockey is serious business

We then introduced Sabrina to the game of ping pong...she was all smiles and giggles with this game

Before we had to head home we stopped back in Lake Placid to walk around town and have lunch.  The town sits on beautiful Mirror Lake
Sabrina & I had a good time picking out chocolates from "The Candy Man"

After lunch at the microbrewery Sabrina enjoyed sweet kisses from Brian & his scruffy chin.

It was a perfect family get away.  I already miss the fresh mountain air.  Hopefully we will be back there sometime in the near future.
